Boys & Girls Club — Panda Cares Center of Hope
Twin Falls, Idaho
The request
The Boys & Girls Club came to me wanting to transform their study room into a space that would get kids excited about learning. The challenge was to make the mural captivating and playful without making the room feel too busy or distracting.
I started with a cool, blue-toned palette to give the space a calm, welcoming feel. I wanted the artwork to invite curiosity while still allowing the room to be a place where kids could settle in and focus. The design shows playful pandas high in their bamboo playground, reading, exploring and interacting with the wildlife around them.
A story of hope.
After learning more about the Panda Cares Center of Hope, I wanted to give the piece a story that connected with its purpose. That story centers around hope. A panda studies a butterfly in a book, and farther across the mural, the butterfly comes to life. To me, it represents hope, transformation and new beginnings.
Light in the darkest places.
In the darkest corner of the room, two pandas are fascinated by that glowing butterfly. Its light brings the story together: even in the darkest places, there is still hope to be found.
